We distributed Crocs-style shoes to children at Nyamasheke school and other schools in Nyanza, more than 7,000 pairs in all.
There were moving moments when children who had previously been barefoot did not want to keep the shoes on for fear of getting them dirty.
We also distributed shoes to each widow in our groups and to historically marginalised people in Nyamasheke. This first distribution involved 9,000 pairs, brought directly from China.
At the time of the report, we were looking for sponsors for a further shoe distribution.
